3 Simple Practices™

The idea behind 3 Simple Practices™ came from an opportunity to observe hundreds of businesses during the course of my career.  I observed executives working diligently to develop strategic plans for their businesses, only to see the plans “go on the shelf” because they didn’t set the groundwork very well and made the plan larger than their organization could handle.

I have found there are ways to make the goal setting process manageable and more effective by remembering the 3 Simple Practices™ .  My father was an example of taking daunting tasks and breaking them down to simple steps.  A great amateur golfer who said the game of golf only had two requirements: rhythm and balance.  He had many other thoughts to make a complex issue simple and his legacy helped me realize that success in transforming your business, or even your personal life, can be done with the 3 Simple Practices™ of Focus, Consistency and Accountability.

We are all terribly busy and finding time to do anything extra in our lives can be a challenge.  I ask participants in my presentations to make a list of all the roles they must play over the course of a week.  The roles are as simple as being a father, a mother, a son or a daughter.  In the business world we can be a supervisor, coach, salesperson, marketer, mediator and many others.  We are judged on our performance on almost all of those roles, especially if we have any sort of leadership role.

So how can we get anything done, let alone a strategic task that can transform
our environment?  We do so by using the 3 Simple Practices™ of Focus, Consistency and Accountability.
